The Creative Writing
Department at San Francisco School of the Arts is a diverse
community of student writers working within the greater Bay
Area writing community. Our mission is to write our
way toward greater understanding of ourselves and the world
we live in. We write from our imagination and
experience,
across genres and contexts; we write alone, collaboratively,
and with writers-in-residence. We publish our work in
our acclaimed literary journal, umläut,
and give readings at venues throughout the City. And
three times a year we take our work to the SOTA stage in
major reading events that attract hundreds of people.
Most of all, we have a lot of fun.
