WHAT'S PLAYING NOW

"C-dubs" are performers as well as writers (see Performance page).  Our video clips
draw mainly from performances at SOTA but also, occasionally, from readings around the City.
Check the Now Showing list below to choose among all available videos.

Beginning in August 2008, Creative Writing has a presence on the website YouTube.
New videos will be placed on YouTube's SOTA Writers channel, and eventually all of our
pre-2008 videos will also become available there. Most CW website visitors will be able to see
the YouTube clips right on our own site, using the embedded viewer.  If your browser has trouble
with that, try one of the options listed beneath each YouTube clip.  And if f you'd rather not deal
with YouTube for any reason, pre-2008 video clips will always be available on the site
using Quicktime, Windows Media, and Real Network players.

We may experience assorted glitches, gremlins, quirks, and quality issues as we handle
this change.  (YouTube's own tech issues are of course beyond our ability to control.)
As always, feel free to report any problems via email:  wbmstr_cw@sbcglobal.net .

INSTRUCTIONS FOR NON-YOUTUBE VIDEO VIEWING

To view pre-2008 clips without YouTube, you will need one of three "players."  Most web users have at least one of them already installed on their computers or built into their browser.  If you can't get any of the video clips to work, or if you don't have one of these players, you can download free versions from the internet.  If you have a player but it doesn't work with the CW clips, you might try downloading an updated free version.

Windows Media Player
Find WMP versions for both Windows and Mac here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?)

Apple Quicktime Player
The latest free version of Quicktime -- Quicktime 7 -- comes bundled with iTunes (also free).  Find it for Windows here (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html)
       or for Mac here (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html)
If you prefer an earlier version of the player -- without iTunes -- you can find a standalone version here (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html)  Keep in mind that in general, the more recent the version, the better it works.

RealNetwork Real Player
Find it
here (http://www.real.com/)

Each video clip is offered in large and small size for each player.  Approximate times to download the files are provided for dial-up (56K modem) and broadband (DSL, cable, etc.)  The range in download times reflects differences in connection types and fluctuations in internet traffic.

You will generally have two choices when you download, depending on your internet settings.  You can choose either to save a permanent video file, which you can watch online or off, or to "open" the clip, which downloads a temp file and starts it playing.  Be sure to wait the suggested time before giving up on the clip.  As always, you can report difficulties to Steve at wbmstr_cw@sbcglobal.net.  Enjoy!
